Style Upgrades

Silliness minimized

In a previous journal entry, I described a deviantART site update to the default journal styles that made my method of indentation (abusing <blockquote> tags) suddenly look ugly with unwanted vertical lines. As of September, I have replaced instances of that tag with another one (<ul>) that gives the same results without the silly lines.

Navigation boxes

I restyled the navboxes at the bottom of pages to be more compact and clean.

Images

As an oldbie, I finally realized that free members can insert images into deviantIDs & journals now, so I've started adding some helpful graphics to the directory. So far, I've added matching leaderboard icons next to each class name in the front page navigation and lists by character.

Anchors

I added links to all the section header anchors so that if clicked, they take you to that section's anchor instead of the top of the page. The anchors were only really there so that I could link to parts of the page - the anchors weren't intended to be clicked on. (Deviantart automatically makes them clickable, and since <a> tags without a "href" attribute don't go anywhere, it dumps you at the top of the page.) Accidentally clicking the anchors and getting sent to the page top was annoying. Now they take you back to that section you clicked on, and the resulting URL is linkable. I've also reversed the nesting of tags in some places to limit the clickable area to the linked text instead of the entire line, which will eliminate accidental clicks from the invisible linked header stretching across the page.

I've finally broken off the "Expressions" section into its own page. (See it here: teamfortressplz.deviantart.com…)  I had been putting it off for a long time.  This will allow me freedom to add more categories.  I was surprised to see dA seems to have lifted the 64kb (IIRC) limit per journal, which had been the major thing holding me back from adding more sections to that page.  But in any case, it was just getting too crowded.

Items, Icons, and Misc:

I organized the page better, adding linkable headers to subsections and splitting some icon groups into separate groupings.

Alphabetical sorting is already accessible via this directory's friends list. I've included a more conspicuous link to a full-page version of this friends list in the front page navigation.

By Order Added

Icons by order added since I started keeping records. These are the same groupings that come out in these news journals every couple months, except compiled into a complete running list with the latest on top.
